Today, the Board of Directors of Feeding America announced that CEO Diana Aviv resigned from the organization for personal reasons, effective immediately. The Board has begun a search for a new leader who can build on Feeding America’s 35-year legacy of responding to the hunger crisis. Keith D. Monda, chair of the Feeding America Board of Directors, will take a more active role as Executive Chairman on an interim basis.
“The Board and staff of Feeding America are committed to our mission of ending hunger in America,” said Monda. “We wish Diana all the best in her future endeavors. Now, more than ever, people facing hunger need the support of our network of food banks, and we will be there to meet that need.”
Aviv joined Feeding America in October of 2015. In that time, the senior leadership team, employees and network have implemented innovative strategies to fight hunger and provide nutritious meals to people in need. In 2017, the organization through its network provided 4.2 billion meals to more than 46 million people, prevented 3.5 billion pounds of food from being wasted and distributed 1.3 billion pounds of fruits and vegetables.
“Feeding America has an extraordinary group of leaders who will step up to fulfill the organization’s mission and our new strategy,” said Monda. “We will use this period of transition to advance the important work we do in communities across the country.”
