Bank of America and Feeding America Team Up to Fight Hunger

November 18, 2013

For the fourth consecutive year, Bank of America is teaming-up with Feeding America this holiday season to help provide meals to individuals and families in need across the country. As part of the"Give A Meal" campaign, for every $1 donated, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will give $2 more, up to $1.5 million - giving donors the opportunity to triple their impact.

"The holidays are a perfect time to make sure that everyone has enough to eat in our community. Thanks to our partnership with Bank of America and their generous match, individuals can stretch their giving dollars this holiday season and really make an impact in their local community," said Bob Aiken, CEO of Feeding America, the nation's leading anti-hunger organization. "We know that we can't solve hunger alone - we have to work together to make sure everyone has food this holiday season."

From now through January 10, 2014, individuals can donate via feedingamerica.org/bankofamerica, to help support their local food bank or Feeding America. In addition, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation is making a separate $1 million contribution to Feeding America's national office. Last year, nearly 150 food banks received funds through the campaign, and bank employees volunteered more than 50,000 hours to support hunger-related volunteer efforts across the country during 2012.

"Feeding America works with hundreds of food banks across the country providing a safety net for millions of Americans who are struggling to put food on the table," said Kerry Sullivan, president, Bank of America Charitable Foundation."We're encouraging everyone to support the Give A Meal campaign and share this opportunity to fight hunger with their friends, families and colleagues–so we can all use our connections to help those in need."

Over the past four years, the program has been an unprecedented success - bringing in nearly 13,000 donors from across the country who have helped to provide more than 63 million meals. A running counter will be displayed on the Give A Meal webpage to tally the number of meals that have been donated during the campaign to date.

That support is especially critical now when, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, approximately 49 million people nationwide are struggling with hunger. That includes 16 million children.
