Donor Relations Coordinator position available in Gassaway, West Virginia
Works closely with Executive Director and Board of Directors to develop and implement fundraising strategy to support mission and goals of MFB.
Develops budget, action plans, methods, materials, procedures and reports for each event and campaign to enhance effectiveness and maximize revenue.
Works with MFB staff to coordinate and run successful events and campaigns.
Creates independently or utilizing advertising firm, appeals for direct mail, for seasonal campaigns and special events; tracks, monitors and evaluates results of mailings, identifies and implements new approaches to direct mail campaigns.
Establishes and implements guidelines for donor stewardship and recognition; creates recognition letters and develops means of stewardship for donors that effectively and enthusiastically convey the organization’s appreciation.
Employs innovative methods to communicate the Food Bank’s mission; independently or through the use of consultant generates brochures, press releases, newsletters, annual report and website to increase community awareness, enthusiasm and giving.
Develops and manages the donor database, Donor Perfect, to ensure the integrity of donor information, timely processing of gifts and accuracy of information including written thank-you letters.
Develops a Planned Giving programs by working with financial institutions, community groups to provide information to individuals concerning the benefits and process for establishing a planned gift (i.e.
wills, trust and bequests).
Develop major gift strategy and engage with Executive Director planned approaches for major donor gifts.
Serves as a key spokesperson.
Builds and maintains appropriate external relationships and coalitions.
Stays abreast of relevant development opportunities with various community groups and agencies.
Assist in special events, including fundraisers and Hunger Summit.
Evaluates the effectiveness of Food Bank’s development programs.
Develops and implements innovative strategies for continually improving Food Bank’s impact, effectiveness and quality of fundraising activities.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; course work or professional certification in related field preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1-2 years successful fundraising experience, including planning and campaigns involving multiple fundraising disciplines and strategies; coordinating events; and in direct solicitation of potential major donors.
Demonstrated successful experience in working with a team environment, including board members and other volunteers in fundraising efforts.
Proven ability to initiate action and motivate others.
Strong personnel management techniques and experience.
Detail and results oriented.
Excellent writing skills including business correspondence.
Excellent communication skills to strongly present the case for Mountaineer Food Bank.
Team player, willingness to help others achieve success in fundraising campaigns.
Computer literacy including word processing, database and spreadsheet programs.
This is a full-time position and includes the following benefit package: Insurance (Health, Life, Vision and Dental), Paid Vacation and Sick Leave.

The Donor Relations Coordinator has responsibility for planning, implementing and coordinating all aspects of fundraising activities of Mountaineer Food Bank. This includes, but is not limited to, Corporate Gifts, Major Gifts, Planned Giving and Direct Mail. Strong focus will be placed on generating gifts from individuals, new prospect and expanding fundraising efforts into previously untapped locales within the service territory as well as maximizing existing campaigns and events.
