Jan Pruitt, CEO of the North Texas Food Bank

Jan Pruitt was the former President and CEO of North Texas Food Bank and past Chair (2014-2016) of Feeding America’s Board of Directors. Jan passed on January 2, 2017. She was devoted to ending hunger in America and dedicated her career to serving others. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues.

Jan Pruitt was the President and Chief Executive Officer of the North Texas Food Bank since 1997. She also served as chair of Feeding America's board of directors. Under her leadership, NTFB experienced exceptional growth—and today provides access to more than 170,000 meals each day to hungry North Texans. The North Texas Food Bank is embarking on a strategic plan to improve the quality of life in North Texas by increasing the number of annual meals provided to 92 million by 2025.

Prior to her work at the North Texas Food Bank, Jan served as executive director of both the Texas Food Bank Network (now Feeding Texas) and the Lancaster Outreach Center. She was a graduate of Dallas Baptist University and spoke on issues of hunger, leadership and social justice. In addition to her Feeding America board position, Jan served on numerous boards including Crossroads Community Services, International Women’s Forum, Three Square Food Bank, Women’s Council of Greater Dallas County, and Leadership Dallas.
