Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities: The management of Produce inventory acquired across all MCTs. Coordinating and scheduling delivery of product into the GBFB. Purchase Order management through Salesforce and Macola. Managing invoicing of all Purchased and VAP product through SmartSearch. Maintaining proper inventory levels to ensure high service levels and variety for the clients. Purchasing products at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and other established factors. Expanding product mix through innovation. Establishing effective relationships with suppliers. Establishing and processing annual contracts with MA Grown farmers. Investigating alternative logistical options to drive down cost. Tracking and measuring purchases compared to available funds to achieve monthly and annual goals. Quality Assurance on all inbound product including daily quality checks on all items previously received to determine if potential action is needed. Continually assessing market pricing to determine seasonably favorable items to purchase into GBFB Attending key trade shows to keep up with produce trends, innovation and collaborate with suppliers and others in the produce network.

Application Qualifications

Experience and Skills: Strong analytical and organizational skills Strong computer skills - proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Strong oral and written communication skills Strong negotiation skills Demonstrated attention to detail Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred. 3 plus years of retail/wholesale food industry experience required; Experience with produce preferred. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to effectively multi-task. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Ability to work independently and adhere to strict guidelines. Valid driver’s license and access to a car. Ability to travel outside of the office occasionally. Ability to meet physical requirements related to helping other Team Members. This may include setting up tables and chairs, moving things and lifting boxes that weigh 25lbs. Ability to sit up to 3 hours at a time. Ability to work within an open air/cubicle environment.

Additional Information

GBFB is looking for a Manager of Produce Acquisition to join our Food Acquisition Team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Food Acquisition, the incumbent in this role is responsible for the daily management of all produce items acquired by the GBFB. The role is responsible for procuring, controlling and managing the inventory for all Material Cost Types which includes purchasing product through the Coop Program, the MEFAP Core Foods/MA Grown Program, as well as all donated Produce items including Value Added Processing (VAP). The role is responsible for maintaining a consistent product mix while expanding variety to achieve GBFB targets.
