Job Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the operations team
  • Supervises all functions of and manages long term strategies for warehousing, food distribution, transportation, inventory control, food purchasing and food resourcing
  • Facilitate all distribution programs including PEP, mobile pantries, Milk2MyPlate, EFB, GNAP and TN Commodities programs within budgetary, grant and safety guidelines
  • Responsible for direct supervision of the warehouse, food sourcing and inventory, and the facility & fleet managers
  • Work with senior team to develop and execute strategies to maximize community impact, successfully achieve annual growth goals, and operate within budget
  • Provide senior team with information needed to write strategies, secure grants, sponsors, and state and federal funding to implement sustainable hunger relief programs across service area
  • Work with volunteer coordinator to utilize a robust volunteer base to support day-to-day operations and programs
  • Assist with development of annual budget and forecast
  • Ensure all required Feeding America operational reporting, and operate within Feeding America contract guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all USDA, AIB, Feeding America, and other governing body audits
  • Support the high-performing culture by setting expectations, clearly communicating goals, and empowering team members to problem solve and make decisions about the organization
  • Empower and enable operations team to make change and improvements through training, mentoring and coaching
Application Qualifications
  • Minimum five years’ experience in operations and warehousing required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and skills to manage change in high growth environments
  • Thorough knowledge of WMS systems and computer applications, including but not limited to: Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possesses a positive “can do” problem-solving attitude and proposes solutions to issues and problems as they arise
  • Basic knowledge of warehouse operations, practices, procedures, and standards
  • Basic knowledge of sanitary food safety, storage, and handling guidelines
  • Proven track record of dependability with an impeccable attendance record

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job (occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 100 lbs, moving pallets up to 2,000 lbs, etc.)

This is a full time exempt position with competitive salary and benefits, including: vacation, sick leave, health insurance & 401k.

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank (CAFB) is seeking a team-oriented professional with the leadership and operations skills and background to help achieve our goals to eliminate hunger and promote better nutrition. The Director of Operations works in concert with the senior management team to provide operational leadership for the Chattanooga Area Food Bank.  This position is also responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient and cost-effective operation of the warehouse and for ensuring that warehouse operations and programs comply with all Feeding America, state and federal regulations and guidelines.
