50% Strategic: Build and evaluate long-term strategy plans in order to fulfill our long-range goals. Lead the charge on developing and managing long-term capital projects that assure sustainable physical plants capable of growing adequately with the organizational demands. Formulates and executes, along with members of the senior management team, strategic plans, structure and processes necessary to manage the Food Bank’s current activities and its projected growth. 50% Operational: Assures adequate service by County throughout the footprint of MFB’s service area. Guides and directs management in all aspects of daily operations and execution ensuring efficiency and effective food sourcing, vendor relationships, transportation management, distribution of food products and optimal service to our network partners. Ensure all program operations are integrated and works with fellow senior managers to coordinate further program development. Coordinate and execute food distribution in accordance with grant requirements.

Application Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Food bank experience a plus. Experience: At least fifteen years in working in an operational role in distribution or logistics/ warehousing is required. A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience is required. A combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid driver’s license is required as well as an MVR showing no prior DUI/DWI’s and no more than 2 points against the license. The ability to read, write and speak English is required.

Overall purpose of the position: This role plays an integral part of the Senior Management team. The individual will advise the CEO and other members of the Senior Team on the operational impact of strategic corporate initiatives. In this role the employee is responsible for:

Supply chain and logistics management;
Oversee proper maintenance of warehouse facilities and vehicles in Baltimore, Salisbury and Hagerstown to ensure compliance with external regulatory bodies making employee, volunteer and food safety top priorities
Manage product recovery function to guarantee maximum product into the area, compliance of recovered goods with external regulatory bodies and good work environment for employees and volunteer staff in product recovery.
Ensure appropriate inventory controls, including rotation of product, receiving and distribution completed daily, proper tagging, and accurate monthly inventory counts.
Determine safety, equipment and other training needs of transportation and warehouse staff.
Develop, coordinate and schedule training in order to meet health and safety standards.
Continually monitor and evaluate the department and staff and provide guidance and discipline when necessary to meet the expectations of the organization.
Ensure accurate and timely shipping and receiving systems.
Manage activities in a cost-effective manner.
Deliver AIB compliant audit.
Develop the annual operations budget for all of MFB’s facilities;
Manage capital projects for each location;
Directly influence the customer service experience;
Responsible for compliance with Feeding America’s guidelines resulting in satisfactory monitoring visits;
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
