|Description||Head of Major Gifts & Planned Giving position available in Boston, MA|
Responsibilities: Oversee, motivate and inspire five full time members of the Major and Mid-Level Gift team to meet objectives. Organize and oversee execution of an annual plan of work to achieve revenue goals. Create strategies and programs that will raise private support in the areas of major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and in kind donations. Develop and execute a program of stewardship and donor recognition to retain current donors and increase support, and renew lapsed and prior donors. Maintain a portfolio of major donors, cultivating and stewarding relationships. The Head of Major Gifts and Planned Giving will have a high degree of autonomy in creating cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for assigned prospects. Superior judgment will be needed. Oversee the planned giving program, working to grow the number of bequest intentions each year. Develop and manage an annual budget.
Experience and Skills: A demonstrated ability to lead, manage and inspire a team of people emphasizing teamwork, respect and excellence. Proven ability to handle multiple responsibilities and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent presentation, verbal, and writing skills, with the ability to speak persuasively about the organization. Strong operational and technical skills. Self-driven to succeed and be committed to the mission of GBFB. Understanding of budgeting and planning required. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree a plus. 10+ years of progressive, significant fund raising experience in the nonprofit sector, including strategic planning, prospect development and solicitation, team management, forecasting, data analysis, interpretation and reporting. Experience working with, motivating, and managing board members and/or other volunteers. Strong knowledge of and experience with the Massachusetts and Boston philanthropic communities is required. A track record of personally soliciting and closing gifts of at least five figures. Strong knowledge of Raiser’s Edge or similar donor database system. Thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. Prior successful experience in running successful annual giving programs and other campaigns a strong plus. Excellent work ethic and achievement orientation Ability and willingness to travel. Must be available to participate in external events as needed. Work Environment/Physical Demands: Ability to meet physical requirements related to helping other Team Members. This may include setting up tables and chairs, moving things and lifting boxes that weigh 25lbs. Ability to sit up to 3 hours at a time Ability to work within an open air/cubicle environment
