Job Responsibilities

Program Coordination: Facilitate coordination with all other departments involved in ensuring successful service delivery, online ordering and pick-ups Assist with and facilitate trainings and meetings with partners Connect distribution partners with nutrition resources and distribution improvement resources, including grant opportunities, client-choice transitions and dignified distribution ideas Compliance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor distribution sites to ensure adherence to all compliancy requirements including food safety, program regulation and application process Ensure partners report correct and accurate information through monthly reports and follow-up with partners who do not meet deadlines Conduct regular surveys with partners to measure partner and client satisfaction Partner Capacity Building & Education: Conduct orientation with new partners and site contacts; maintain training records and files; update training materials as needed Schedule and perform food safety and other specific training sessions as needed Assist in review and update of partner capacity materials including, but not limited to, handbooks, standard operating procedures, application and monitoring forms Communication: Support the Development Department in periodic needs encompassing marketing and communications and donor relations Act as a primary point of contact for a diverse range of contacts at partner sites Develop potential relationships with partner contacts through meeting attendance, community engagement events, etc. Oversee survey administration and support program evaluation by effectively communicating outcomes from program deliverables with partner sites Support grant reporting with program challenges, testimonials, data and information on a regular basis Maintain a strong connection with partners through regular communication including a monthly E-newsletter, phone calls, emails and site visits Miscellaneous: Represent FSD to community groups and the general public through active participation at meetings, involvement in events throughout the community and official media outlets Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings as scheduled Evening or weekend work as required All other duties as assigned

Application Qualifications

Required: B.A. degree from an accredited university or college in Social Service, Public Policy, Business Administration, Management, or comparable course of study preferred and one (1) or more years of experience in a position requiring similar skill sets or working in a similar or related capacity for a nonprofit organization.

  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of experience in a nonprofit program coordination setting with competing priorities, deadlines, and constant multi-tasking.
  • Preferred: Experience in food distribution programs, food security and hunger-relief work, and volunteer coordination Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.

Additional Information

Under the direction of the Programs Manager, the Programs Coordinator of Feeding San Diego (FSD) is primarily responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations and implementation of FSD Programs. The position will work with but not limited to including churches, healthcare partners and schools. The culmination of these collaborations is successful implementation of programming, outreach and support to food insecure families in San Diego County. Duties include: working closely with partners and distribution sites to ensure strategic and effective daily maintenance of food assistance programs; building and maintaining regular relationships with local, partners; ensuring compliance with all local, state and national food safety and monitoring standards; working with the programs team to ensure goals for programs are met; and attending all relevant meetings, workshops and trainings necessary to successfully complete the position’s responsibilities.
